How Umbra works

What Umbra does to a bracketed sequence of totality frames, one stage at a time.

1. 00

   Conversion

   Raw files to calibrated and debayered FITS.

2. 01

   Alignment

   Every frame aligned twice: once on the lunar limb, once on the corona.

3. 02

   Stacking

   Noise averaged out, with no ghosting from the Moon's drift.

4. 03

   HDR

   Bracketed exposures merged to recover the corona's dynamic range.
